The Bear on the Square Mountain Festival’s Country Auction, the major fundraising event for the festival, will take place in the large MainStage Tent across from Hancock Park on the Friday night just prior to the opening of the weekend festivities. The silent auction and preview of items for the live auction are scheduled from 5-7 p.m., music and food will be offered from 5:30-6:45 p.m., and the live auction will get underway at 7:15 p.m.
Music this year will be provided by Smokey's Farmland Band, and food catering will once again be from Shenanigan’s Irish Pub and Bourbon Street Grille of Dahlonega. There is no charge for food or wine, but donations will be accepted to offset the cost of the event.
Professional auctioneer Sam Williamson will run the show at the live auction. Each year, the auction features the work of North Georgia folk artist Billy Roper, along with the work of other talented local artists and juried artists taking part in Bear on the Square's Artists Marketplace, including artists from the John C. Campbell Folk School, the festival sponsor.
