Jason Kenney and Leah Calvert have been teaming up over the last few years to explore different types of acoustic music, and when they play together their individual talents are multiplied. They have shared the stage with many talented artists including The Punch Brothers, Amy Ray (Indigo Girls), The Carolina Chocolate Drops, Zac Brown, Kevin Kinney and The Atlanta Ballet.
For their Bear on the Square appearance Jason and Leah will be appearing on-stage with Chirs Enghauser, Jody Hughes and Jared Womack.
North Georgia’s Jason Kenney (HomeGrown Revival/The Kenney-Blackmon String Band) is a guitar player, singer, multi-strumentalist, and songwriter who has been playing music professionally for eight years. He has put out three full length albums and collaborated on many others. For his latest project, he teamed up with the legendary fiddler, David Blackmon, and they released their first album as The Kenney-Blackmon String Band entitled "The Singing Tree." Jason is currently finishing his solo album.
Leah Calvert has been tearing up both the bluegrass and jazz scene in Georgia for over 10 years. She shines on the five-string fiddle and sings like an angel. Her music displays limitless creativity and amazing precision. Leah is a member of The Dappled Grays and they are currently working on their second album. She and the band were recently featured in the film "Trouble with the Curve" starring Clint Eastwood.
